Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom
Eleven days and more than a million Japanese words stood between the world’s largest law firm and its deadline to file documents with the Federal Trade Commission. Representing one of its most important clients, Skadden had little margin for error and virtually no time to spare. We assembled a team of 57 linguists and, through a coordinated, round-the-clock effort, were able to deliver the English translations in ten days.
ExxonMobil
During the process of seeking FTC approval for its merger with Exxon, Mobil turned to us to translate more than one million words from 11 languages into English-in a matter of two weeks. A dedicated team of 60 translators, four project managers, and more than 50 editors and proofreaders worked around the clock and were able to deliver the translations ahead of schedule-helping to complete what was, at the time, the largest merger in US history.
Carrington Coleman
After discovering more than 30,000 pages of text written in Spanish and German, Carrington Coleman needed a unique solution to ensure that only the documents relevant to its multimillion-dollar case were translated. We devised a seamless system whereby one team of linguists examined the documents on site and, upon identifying which ones were pertinent to the case, forwarded them to a second team of linguists for immediate translation. The assignment was finished ahead of schedule and at nearly half the cost of complete translation of all 15 million words.
Sutherland Asbill & Brennan
After being selected to represent an American firm in litigation involving a German corporation, Sutherland needed a turnkey solution to assist with the integral language aspect of the case. From translating 200,000 highly technical German and French words into English to scheduling certified and court-sworn interpreters and court reporters, our staff in the US and Germany worked together to deliver unparalleled and comprehensive legal support services under extremely tight deadlines.
Debevoise & Plimpton
Translation, interpretation, and database management of terminology were provided for this major international law firm over the course of a 14-month litigation. The assignment consisted of English into Japanese and Japanese into English projects and involved the participation of more than 40 legal translators working on site.
Howrey
In preparation for a case before Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission, this leading intellectual property firm tasked us with translating thousands of words of exhibits into Chinese. At the last minute, the lead attorney-one of the foremost authorities on antitrust issues-was unable to make the trip to Taipei to represent the client, Intel. Our solution: Taking the attorney’s video presentation, a team of skilled linguists produced a transcript which was then translated into Chinese; video production specialists inserted subtitles of the edited and proofread translation into the video presentation. Howrey's attorney may not have made the trip from San Francisco to Taiwan, but his message did.
